by Kevin from RemoteOZ

If your remote isn’t working with your TCL TV or you’ve just bought a new replacement remote, don’t worry – pairing/program the remote and link it to your TCL TV is usually quick and easy.

Below are 4 simple methods you can try, depending on the type of remote you have. As TCL previoustly made quite a few different remote controls for their TV series. We will explain the detail pairing/programming process on how to set the TCL remote control.

Just follow the steps and you should be up and running in a couple of minutes.

Before You Start

Make sure:

  • Your TV is powered on(VERY IMPORTANT!!)
  • The remote has fresh new batteries
  • There’s nothing blocking the TV sensor (for IR remotes)

1. Standard IR Remote (Point-and-Use)

This is the most common remote type — no Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi, just point and press. For exmaple, there’re many earlier version TCL TVs which are using this type of remote controls, such like TLC925 series remote, TCL’s RC802N series remote(such as RC802N YAI4), they looks like the following one.

RC802N YUI4

These type of remote controls are the standard infrared version remote, just fill battery and it’s ready to go. There is no need to program/tune into connection with your TCL TV. Just make sure you fill the right size batteries(usually AAA) in the correct direction into the remote.

2. Bluetooth Smart Remote (TCL Android TV / Google TV / Roku TV)

from 2018, more and more modern TCL remotes use Bluetooth for voice control or extra functions. Those TCL remote models are usually including RC901V series(RC901V FAR1), RC902V series(RC902V FAR1), and ARC802NV series, those TCL remote controls comes Bluetooth voice control function, and needs to be paired/programmed to the TV in order to work in full functions. They look like the following one:

How to pair

  1. Turn on the TV.
  2. Hold the Pairing button (usually inside the battery compartment or a dedicated button).
  3. For RC901V series remote control, press OK and LEFT arrow button at the same time.
  4. For RC902V series remote control, Press Voice button and Return arrow(left to Home button) button at the same time for 5 seconds in front of the TV.
  5. Hold for 3–5 seconds until the pairing light flashes.
  6. You should see a message on your TV saying: “Remote Pairing…”
  7. Wait for it to say “Remote Paired Successfully.”

If pairing fails

  • Restart the TV
  • Remove and reinsert batteries
  • Move closer to the TV
  • Try pairing again

If your TCL TV still can not link with the remote, you may need to checkwhether the remote control is failed, in this case, you may need to consider to get a new TC replacement remote control.
